Current Sun - Solar Power in Devon

For the last 100 years we in the western world have had an abundance of  energy in the form of fossil fuels.  Earths rich resources of oil and coal have fueled the fires and engines of the industrial revolution which in turn has massively changed the way we live and our expectations of a “civilized” life.

From now on there will only be “less” oil. In this decade we have or are about to (we only know after the event) peak in our extraction of the black gold.  There have been no significant discoveries of oil since the 1960`s and as Richard Heinberg says “the parties over”.

A Solution - Solar Power, Ground Source and Wind Power

Fear not though, all is not lost!  You are already thinking about using energy smarter because you are on our web site. 
There will be no straight substitute for oil. However if we use solar thermal energy for our water, perhaps a bore hole and a ground source heat pump energy for house warmth coupled to an electricity supply from a solar array of photovoltaic (PV) cells we can still live a life something akin to the present. 

 

Of course you might have to cycle to work and grow your own veggies but it will keep you fit and healthy!  

What is the Cost? - Renewable Energy in Devon

For approx £5000 we can supply and install a solar thermal panel and a hot water tank in a “normal” house in the Exeter/Devon area.  This could be used in variety of ways, and it doesn’t have to be clear blue skies and 80 degrees outside for it to start working.  Even on a fairly cloudy day we can get the temperature of your water hot.

And as long as oil gets dearer the payback period gets shorter.  And its only going to get dearer over the coming decades.
